Our food and water
- All water bottles used by children will be stainless steel or BPA-free plastic
- Organic and GE-free food will be used wherever possible
- We will conserve all water used in our centre
- We will harvest rainwater for cleaning and irrigation
- All drinking water will be filtered
Our sustainable practice
- We will use washable plates, cups and utensils
- We will discourage the use of single-use containers
- We will maintain information on children and adults in our facility who have allergies or other sensitivities
- We will purchase food in bulk quantities wherever possible
- Excess food will be re-used (fed to animals), or composted so as not to attract pests
Our cleaning products
- We will use commercial cleaning products that are clearly labelled and are pH-neutral and environmentally-friendly
- All personal cleaning products (hand wash, etc) will be environmentally-friendly
- We will hold information sheets on all chemical products, so appropriate first aid may be administered in the event of accident
- We will use a high-heat wash in our dishwasher to ensure eating and cooking items are appropriately cleaned
- We will only use disinfectants where necessary; following the label directions for product use; including recommended dwell time and product storage
- We will screen all cleaning products annually
Our equipment
- All playground equipment will be cleaned regularly
- All sand areas will be covered when not in use
- We will use fresh air or a filtered ventilation system with a fresh air exchange
- Ventilation systems will be well-maintained with regular filter changes as specified
- All our toys and other purchased materials are made with non-toxic and environmentally friendly materials
